Happy Birthday, *Ribbontail!
I had a bit of trouble figuring out what character I wanted to do this year, and ended up scrapping at least two pictures that I started on due to indecision and unhappiness for the way they were turning out. I'm still not satisfied with the image I did end up doing, but at least I managed to finish something. I just wanted to do something at least so I didn't miss this occasion, even if it doesn't quite do Atma Janaka / Eclipse the justice I think he deserves in art for his gorgeous design.
Anyways, I hope you had a great year and an excellent birthday, Ribbons! (I'm not sure if you'll see this until later though.)
I'm so tired currently that I honestly can't think of what to write in this description; sorry for being so short and abrupt.

How do you remember my birthday every year?? I don't even tell people my birthday but you always get it. You're just so cool, Rax. <333 This year I made an effort to remind myself, but got so caught up in deadline nonsense (car registration on 19th, court on 22nd, payment by 31st) that I almost glossed past it again. I think you, my bio-sister ~Crystal124, and my husband are the only ones who remember the date consistently, but I guess this is becase you guys are my family. Eeeeee. Thank you so much for remembering again! You always make me feel special. Thank you so so much.
This is such a gorgeous picture, aaaaah look at this beautiful dargin. Eclipse's war-form is something I don't post nearly enough of, and seeing this make me want to do go a sketchdump of all the recent doodles and experiments. He really is a lovely, peculiar-looking creature, and you captured his regality here; it's all in the gaping mouth, wild eyes, and fiery mane, not to mention that halo. Eclipse is meant to be expressive and all-over-the-place, which in his war-form becomes veeeery obvious-- fiendish, evil even, despite his role as a technical good guy. Haha! This said, I love the eyes here and just how bright they are. Eclipse is always changing his form and the eyes shift as well, but this yellow-on-red design is great and I think I'll use it as one of his more common ones. I also like your use of form in this picture, with the furrowed brows and smile. His whiskers are nice too, very graceful. :3
Another thing I really like about this picture is the style. It's halfway between "pixeled" and "painterly", and I can't quite put my finger on what to call it. What program did you use, and what was your process? I like it! In the future, when I have the right tools, I'll have to draw it out because it's really cool.
(Also I see lyics! "The Phoenix Alive" is such a cool song and I must remember to do a pic to it someday. THOSE LYRIC)
Aaaaah overall you did amazing work on this picture, thank you so much Rax! Eclipse has never looked better.
