[GIFT] Navigator of the Stars

...and that said, I'm sorry I was here for neither of our birthdays. We always do this exchange and I wanted to be on time for once, but last year was just so chaotic for you and I both. May this year be more leisurely for us both!

It's amazing to look back on these babies and see how your art's improved over time. Last year was your early run with a tablet, and since then you've gotten so much better at shading, details, lighting, and style. It's obvious you've been practicing, and it turns out super. I just love this piece. You nailed Eclipse's general presence: a weird mix of regal and mighty, yet cute and kind. I'm not sure if he's gonna nip me in half of offer to play catch! Hahaha. I think the best part of this picture is the colors, though. It never occurred to me how gorgeous he is when highlighted in purple! It's a good color on him, in fact it's almost prettier than his ashen gray color. Color is definitely your greatest gift in art, and it's on full display here.

THAT BACKGROUND too. Mmm. How do you do your backgrounds? Do you open a canvas and just go wild with it, then tweak it so it fits the subject? I love the style!
